...the presence of light in us...

“there are no shadows in darkness.
 shadows are created by light,
and only exist in the presence of light.
refusing to acknowledge our shadow leads us to deny the presence of light in us.”
― Franco Santoro

was this week.
really long for anyone else?
so grateful that it is saturday.
i need some me time today.
even if it's just doing the dishes.
or vacuuming.
or laundry.
this was a trying week at work.
not with anything in particular.
that i can pinpoint.
just a lot of "pulling" in many direction.
but, again, i am grateful.
that i have the chance to be...
present.
with myself.
i even had the opportunity to step out onto the porch.
and breathe in forty-seven degree goodness.
and take in a sip or two from my coffee mug.
rain yesterday.
took away a lot of snow.
it could say march on the calendar by the way the day is presenting itself.
no complaints here.
in my post below this.
i have photos representing each month last year.
please feel free to use them for your "wallpaper" for 2013.
i would love to spend time with you on your desktop.
breathe in the moments today.
just BE.
robin.

A hint of light is all we need to keep us going despite the travails of life around us. This allows the slight but lovely shadow to remind us of that guiding light. The rain is washing away our snow from last week - no complaints here. Enjoy your Saturday and recharge for next week...

I feel the same way about even a hint of light and shadows and find your post very moving for me today. Thank you, Robin. Like Ralph, I hope your weekend recharges you -- and mine, too!!

Yes, even the shadow seems soft and light in this shot.

Yes, even the quiet of housework can be a welcome retreat. I've learned to lower my expectation of what "i get done on the weekend". Its all there waiting on Monday anyway. Not watching the clock come Saturday and Sunday is a mini vacation.
Cheers,
Leah

excellent post with your photo and so wise words- housework can be relaxing and taking time to observe and enjoy your day is sheer bliss.

Love the idea that denying shadows is denying light! A beautiful thought! And your photo, as always is soft, subtle and enchanting!

Great thought about shadow and light . Its a way of thinking more people could use. Thanks for the posting.

Thank you so very much for sharing with me. (I say me, even though there are many that come here to read this, because I am here at my desk alone).
I will indeed go look at the post below and have you spend a little time here in Spadoville, where last week was also raining and felt like March!
This made me think of the expression, "I see the light"

Peace

So glad that week is over! I hope this week is a thousand times better. I love that quote you started off with. It says far more than what the words say (does that make sense?).
Such a captivating image too. You know me, I love stuff like that! ; )

Boy! Do I know that feeling. All day long I am itching to get out of work to go pick up my d-i-l from work and see my granddaughter. She has me wrapped around her little finger. lol
