...afternoon delight...

happiness is the harvest of a quiet eye.
~ Austin O'Malley
it is with a quiet eye
that i chase shadows.
this is the afternoon-
early evening sun
on the young budding tulip.
showing off it's silhouette
could not be helped.
it surrenders to the sun's rays
and my lens.
catch more shadows there
with tracy and the rest of the chasers.

...avoiding shadows?...

"do not anticipate trouble
or worry about what may never happen.
keep in the sunlight."
~benjamin franklin
keep in the sunlight.
to find the shadow today.
that's what we are doing at
no worries today.
just BE.

"in different hours,
a man represents each of several ancestors,
as if there were seven or eight of us
rolled up in each man's skin-
and they constitute the variety of notes
for that new piece of music
~ralph waldo emerson
every single day.
we are given an opportunity.
to step back.
and assess this life.
to reflect on the choices we've made.
and the consequences those choices lead to.
night falls.
and with the new day.
we are given renewed strength.
everything will work out.
as it is suppose to be.
welcome to coffee hour.
welcome to this Sunday morning.

...of making choices...

I HAVE not so much emulated the birds that musically sing,
I have abandon'd myself to flights,
broad circles.
The hawk, the seagull, have far more possess'd me than the
canary or mocking-bird,
I have not felt to warble and trill,
however sweetly,
I have felt to soar in freedom and in the fullness of
~walt whitman
light + objects = shadows
another day of shadow seeking.
and you can find some amazing ones

...rain on...

For after all, the best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain.
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
The drops of rain make a hole in the stone not by violence but by oft falling.
- Lucretius

i thank you God for this most amazing day,
for the leaping greenly spirits of trees,
and for the blue dream of sky
and for everything which is natural,
which is infinite,
which is yes.
e.e. cummings
on this Easter Sunday
i leave you with this.
may your blessings flow.
welcome to coffee hour.
welcome to this Sunday morning.

...simple truths...

even in a complex world
simple truths can change everything.
once upon a time,
a velveteen rabbit learned that new isn't
necessarily better...
that the quiet wisdom of a old toy horse
can change the world...
that honest friendship and understanding
can warm the heart..
that a good book can make the
world a better place
and that love can make us real.
~the velveteen principles
