...9.27.15...

Rules for making the world:
1. Stand up & do the thing
you see needs doing.
2. That’s it.
(If it was easy, we’d be
having a different
conversation.)

wonderful week of moments.
homecoming.
spirit week.
king & queen nomination.
parade.
friday night lights.
he didn't win as king.
but the lovely lady he escorted was crowned queen.
the team did pull out a victory.
after much back and forth scoring.
the proudest moment.
that i hope he carries with him...
is he and his girlfriend.
asking their friend, kyle, to go with them to the dance.
i hope he remembers.
helping kyle put on the pink tie.
so they would all match.
i know, as the momma, i'm going to remember that moment.
i watched the game from the press box.
helping his proud dad who announced the game.
but the best moment of this week.
was standing watching his compassion.
as he put that tie on his friend.
as hannah pinned the flower on her friend's shirt.
those are the moments.
that define his {her} character.
those are the moments.
that make this momma proud.
welcome to coffee hour.
welcome to this Sunday morning.
just BE.

...9.20.15...

And the sign said, "Long-haired freaky people need not apply"
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said, "You look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do"
So I took off my hat, I said, "Imagine that, huh, me workin' for you"
Whoa, oh, oh
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?
And the sign said, Anybody caught trespassin' would be shot on sight
So, I jumped on the fence and-a yelled at the house
"Hey, what gives you the right?
To put up a fence to keep me out or to keep mother nature in
If God was here, He'd tell you to your face, man, you're some kinda sinner"
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?
Now, hey you, Mister, can't you read?
You've got to have a shirt and tie to get a seat
You can't even watch, no you can't eat
You ain't supposed to be here
The sign said, You got to have a membership card to get inside, ugh
And the sign said, "Everybody welcome, come in, kneel down and pray"
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all
I didn't have a penny to pay
So, I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign
I said, "Thank you, Lord, for thinkin' 'bout me, I'm alive and doin' fine, woo
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin' out the scenery, breakin' my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign?
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Sign
Sign, sign
five man electrical band

this song popped into my head today.
i suppose.
because i'm tired of struggling to
just BE.
don't get me wrong.
that will always be my mantra.
my path.
my journey.
i just get frustrated.
people are always going to disappoint you.
that will forever be an obstacle.
i am not perfect.
no one is.
{only the Creator of this vast imperfect planet.}
so i just have to remember to breathe.
to block out the negative.
because at the end of the day.
it just doesn't matter.
because at the end of the day.
how i choose to BE.
is up to me.
i am dreaming of a space.
where people can form a common ground.
to breathe in.
a space where we can.
just BE.
thus my button above.
i will be working out a plan.
stay tuned.
welcome to coffee hour.
welcome to this Sunday morning.
just BE.

...9.6.15...

I still fly a lot in my dreams, she told us, but I try to stay close to the ground.
At my age, a fall can be pretty serious....

morning coffee.
the deafening silence.
from the absence of the robins.
is replaced by the screeching sound of a bluejay.
crickets provide a soft background melody.
and the wind chime sounds.
every time a leaf.
lets go of its branch.
and dances in the breeze.
towards the ground.
welcome to coffee hour.
welcome to this Sunday morning.
just BE.
