...length and shadow of our own souls...

because everything we say and do
is the length and shadow of our own souls,
our influence is determined by the quality of our being.
Dale Turner
i love how.
the flutterby's body.
created his shadow.
on his wing.
oh the joys of.
a summer yard.
it is back.
like an old friend.
familiar.
welcoming.
comfortable.
just BE.
robin.

The butterfly is so graceful and beautiful, its gentle landing on the flower amazing in its gentleness. Perhaps this flying beauty knew you were looking for natural shadows and kindly posed for the artist. So nice!

The flowerpot looks as if it is about to tup over. Happily, shadows were captured prior to the fall. Neat!

It is a familiar and welcomed sight-these colorful summertime visitors! Quietly sipping nectar from the flowers that grace the property.
Celebrating the simple joys of life that mean so much!

I love the ladybug in your header today! I might not like many of the summer insects (horseflies, deerflies, mosquitoes), but there are so many wonderful creatures like these in your photos! (and dragonflies!)

What lovely photos...and a beautiful quote! I haven't heard that one before and will definitely add it to my collection. And I agree...the joys of a summer yard are so welcoming and comfortable.

Dale Turner's words are so haunting and beautiful - definitely recorded on the SSS2 list! Love the gentle wings of your butterfly touched with shadow! And the second photo is like a mystery object! At first I thought it was a slightly overturned lampshade, but what would do that be doing on a rugged fence? post? Like a mystery object tantalising in light and shadow!

Butterflies are so beautiful...
In Finland everything is so green but it's not summer warm yet but pleasant to cycle! (and stop every 5 mins to shoot a picture)
Have a good week ahead!

I also love this quote about the length and shadow of our souls.

The flutterby shot is wonderful. I just captured a bumble bee on some spiky purple perennials in the yard.

I think I shall post the photo, because I can. ;-)
