i love this screen door.
tilda and i were at a primitive
show and i just had to have it.
it had been in my flower bed
at the RC house.
now it stands by the shed
next to the sign of
H. M. Compton. (my great-gramma)
the screen is falling out,
the black paint
is giving way
to green...(yeah)
it is comforting to think of
all the hands that have
touched this door.
all the people who passed
thru it's frame.
all the laughter it heard
and the sorrow it witnessed.
and all the people it comforted
because when they saw this
door they knew they were home.
i am home.
just BE.
robin.
if you enlarge my shadow picture
you will be able to see the lovely tent worms...
i laughed when i was downloading the pictures...
they are just everywhere!
and for more shadows...
head over to HEY HARRIET

What a fascinating shadow shot! I love the old screen! And, yes, even the worms add a touch, funny!
Happy SSS! Have a lovely weekend!
I'm still laughing about the tent worms...what is it about old screen doors that just speak 'welcome friend'...especially the green ones. Were they trying to emulate the green of the earth when they painted them green??? Like the blue ceilings on Granny's porch, the sky perhaps...
Have a wonderful, sunny(???)weekend...thanks for the coffee...hi Tilda!
s
wow, the screen's got some very beautiful colours. very neat!
happy sss!
ps. i'm a snapdragon too :)
Well, you learn something every day. I had never even heard of tent worms until I read your post. They blend in so beautifully in your wonderful image - and they are much prettier than spiders!
What a wonderful picture! I love to use old things and think about the history of them.
This is creepy cool, indeed! I enlarge the pix and it gave me goosebumps as I hate creepy things §:-))
Enjoy your SS...
That old screen is gorgeous in the sunlight. The screen seems pink. Did you take this picture at sunrise or sunset to give it that glow? The Tent Worms are a funny addition to the shot.
beautiful shadow photo... i love how in shadow you see a cross in the middle of the photo...
and wow... i don't think i fully understood what you meant when you said you find them everywhere... they seem to be enjoying their notoriety and photo opportunities :)
Evette~the pink was from the sun setting. it was funny, my daughter came up the stairs and said "mom, shadows"...so of course i had to run out and capture it.
the tent worms are creepy in that they are everywhere...there is no walking barefoot when they are here!!! one of our major roads is literally brown because so many of them cross the road that it tinges the road!! that's a lot of worms.
We know what you mean! We've collected doors for the store - each one has it's own story doesn't it! This one is gorgeous (although we'd take it without the worms - ha!)
Have a lovely week!

The screen door looks like it's on the way to becoming vintage perfection. Your words are as special as the photo.
A gorgeous and sweet shadow shot. Even with the funny tent worms! It's like a plague of tent worms over there. Freaky! Happy Sunday :)
Such an interesting shadow shot! Those worms are a weird colour of yuk but they certainly add some interesting personality to the photo! Unique!
Very cool SSS! I love it. I thought it was a bed's headboard at first.
What a lovely shadow shot (minus the worms - ick! ;-)
I love the color in your shadow, nice!
muted tones and shadows ~ such joy!
I hate those tent caterpillars but they do take a good photo. Lovely door and poem... and shadow shot.
I love old things, love thinking of all their other people, all their other lives
wonderful photos
Absolutely beautiful photo, worms and all! (And they have shadows, too ...)
:-)
FAN-TAB-ULOUS shadow shot! LOVE that screen door... it was a perfect find!
