...plowed field and lessons...

a grandfather teaches
his grandchild a lesson
by
the way he plows
a
field.
grandpa always
plows
in
a
straight
line.
he does not go around
rocks
but removes them.
grandpa's path
always remains
straight.
there is something beautiful
about a plowed field.
grandpa never taught me
how to plow a field...
but i was in on my share of
"picking stones"
if you ever wondered why you see
that pile of rocks near a field...
this is why...
you remove the obstacles.
i came home friday evening to see that
my dad...
my lesson giver...
had plowed the garden...
and i could not help
but stop
and smile.

...paths...

there are hundreds of paths
up the mountain,
all leading in the same direction,
so it doesn't matter which path you take.
the only one wasting time is the one
who runs around and around the mountain,
telling everyone his or her path is wrong.

...simple elegance...

this week, a week of vacation from work...
we were working on finishing the RC house...
.renters move in tomorrow.
please keep happy thoughts for us that these people work out!!!!
we've checked...they have no "record"
i must admit that i was very blunt with the man today...
and then i apologized saying "this is not my nature at all...BUT
we will not be taken advantage of again!!!!" he understood.
poppies...poppies...poppies
new paint...new carpet tiles
bedroom looking thru living room to kitchen
getting home...working three days in the house...i'm feeling a tad blue-
the whole house ordeal...having the process of finding people again...
will they be kind to the house as if it were theirs...
then tonight
...after raining for the past three days...the sun came out...and so did the camera!!
and so did my sense of peace...He knows.
you may tire of looking at the flower pictures...but i gotta tell ya...
i'm gonna keep takin' em!!!

...MEMORIAL DAY...

~BILL CAMPBELL
I am a patriot, long ago I came to be
When my country gave the call, I stood for liberty
Love of freedom made me more than just a man
I will always do my part, protect the master plan
So many times I had to die, answering the call
And each time I would fall, I came back again

Threatening our freedom,
the British came our way
Knowing I was called again, I had my part to play
On that dark and gloomy night, I rode to give my cry
Before this fight was over many patriots would die
To warn my fellow countrymen I could show no fear
My name was Paul Revere

I joined up with my brothers in the spring of seventy five
I knew that in this struggle I might not remain alive
The British caught and hung me, they could not let me live
Go ahead and take my life, I have but one to give
For the cause of liberty, I knew I must not fail
My name was Nathan Hale

I told them in Virginia that liberty must stand
The active and the brave must rise to save our land
I know not what course others take, I'll give my very breath
As for me my fellow man, it's Liberty or death
"Is life so dear, or peace so sweet,
That we will live in chains
"Patrick Henry was my name

In all the wars that came along,
I knew that I must fight
My name had become legion, standing for the right
Our fight was for our freedom, and many mothers cried
To keep Old Glory flying high, twas for this cause we died
My duty was clear, my Country called
I was a soldier

Our founders were much wiser than we can hope to be
With long and labored effort they gave us Liberty
Protect your constitution, no matter what the cost
By staying ever vigilant, your freedom won't be lost
"You have a republic, if you can keep it"
Benjamin Franklin

I wait here now, standing guard at the Tomb Of The Unknown
I marvel at this country and the way that it has grown
I'll give foreign and domestic enemies their grief
When the call goes out again I'll stand for my belief
The patriot spirit never dies
"I'll be back"

HOME OF THE FREE
BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE
thank you...

Scandinavian saying
"Faith
is a bird
in the forest
who
senses
the approaching dawn
and
sings
while
it
is
still
dark."
we have a
delightful
little song bird,
that sings the most
beautiful
song.
it is a happy
song.
it can't help
but calm you
as you get caught up
in the melody.
i don't know
what kind of little
creature he is...
as he sings from the cover
of the tree leaves...
but i'd like to
think
it's
the
work
of God
coming to me
because He knows
i needed it.

...loving it when life is simple...

when my heart is full of happiness simply by looking at a mowed lawn, a turkey and a cat.

this morning,
while drinking coffee on the porch...
i watched this scene unfold...
gandalyn has taken
her place now, actually in the
hole at the bird feeder.
previously she would
watch the birds from the
safety beneath a cart.
the turkeys were out for their
morning breakfast...not knowing
that gandalyn was watching from
the hole.
i am sure that they both would have
stood their ground but
the suspense was too much...
i had mattie remove the kitty.
crisis averted.
************************************
yesterday i was "fretting" not worrying..."fretting" (right sue...)
about the riding mower needing tending to...
the grass was long overdue for it's first cutting of the year...
while i am a girl who likes to tinker with things
and try and figure things out... i was stuck.
i was trying to figure out how to drain the oil,
which has gas in it...out of the mower.
then my knight in shining armor came to save the day...
my dad.
he always has the right tools, and always has the know how...and doesn't have to stumble his way through things...he just knows. i love that about him...i am his biggest fan.
thanks pa. i love you.

as one gets older

sense within their own work
that
kind
of
swelling
of
possibilities,
which may seem
a freedom

...porches and rain...

one
of
the
things
that i love
about
this
house-
is the porch.
i
went out at 11
last night, while it was raining...
i laid down on the bench
and
listened to the
rain.
it was hitting some
over turned buckets...
plink, plink, plink.
it
was
very, very, very
relaxing.
i could
have fallen asleep
right there
on
the
hard bench.
this
morning
i caught
the product of last night's
rain...
on
the
tulips.
