...3.4.12...

“parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths,
but the final forming of a person's character lies in their own hands.”
anne frank

first and foremost...
happy 23rd birthday to my first born son.

i love you!!

“if you look deeply into the palm of your hand,
you will see your parents and all generations of your ancestors.
all of them are alive in this moment.
each is present in your body.
you are the continuation of each of these people.”
Thich Nhat Hanh

i know.
that everyone.
has a story.
family life was good.
or family life was bad.
or somewhere in between.
but i look at
thich nhat hanh's quote.
and i am filled with awe.
all of them are alive
in this moment.
all the way back.
to.
 this very moment.
i am not really sure where my thoughts
want to go today.
i sit here struggling with my thoughts.
bottom line, i guess.
the good, the bad, the ugly.
life is not perfect.
do the best you can.
love even when your heart is broken.
and choose to reflect and live for the happy times.
everybody has a story...
everybody can change the words.
welcome to coffee hour.
welcome to this Sunday morning.
just BE.

You wrote that you were struggling with your thoughts, but so much wisdom flows through the words you wrote.
Your snowy photos are so beautiful. I always enjoy seeing what your lens has captured.
Happy Sunday!!

A beautiful post! Life is what we make of it, none of us are perfect, hopefully we do the best we can.
Happy Birthday Steven!

You are a gifted writer. Thank you for allowing me a glimpse of your family (Happy Birthday to your son!) and a view into your little corner of the world. Snowy photos create a mood so real, I'm shivering!

...well now, a belated happy birthday wish to your son. Family...so precious.

Loved your prose again...that goes without saying...and your snowy images beautiful indeed. Kinda reminds me of Robert Frost's Stopping by the woods at night.
