"Every morning, when we wake up,
we have twenty-four brand-new hours to live.
What a precious gift!
We have the capacity to live in a way that these twenty-four hours
will bring peace, joy, and happiness
to ourselves and others"

this is an apple tree.
that i climbed often as a child.
mostly to pick the best apple.
before it hit the ground.
to meet the fate of bruising.
it goes through each season.
bearing no fruit, no leaves.
it has no leaves to drop in the fall.
yet in death.
it stands proud.
it still brings my heart joy.
enjoy the moments.
just BE.

Wonderful old tree and great shadow shots for the day, Robin! I hope your weekend is off to a great start! Enjoy!
Although this tree no longer bears fruit, it still affirms life. The memories of the tree are still alive inside you even over the years - thus is is still alive as it stands although weathered. It lives in your heart :)
I know what you mean about that tree still bringing joy to your heart! I have one in my back yard that is long gone, but I wouldn't let my husband take it down. Instead, he put a sting of lights on it and it comes on every night, bringing backyard magic to us each evening.
Last weeks image explanation has been added to the post! Thanks-I meant to do that and lost sight of it.
Beautiful colours and textures in this shot
Hi Rob...
The sweet old memories always stay, no matter what.
Love the thoughts of LIFE.
Have a blessed weekend.

..so I got through the morning knowing this was the 33rd anniversary of his death, and then I saw....the tree, and your words.
Then I lost it. I remember when it was young, like him, but it stands still, and is beautiful even in its dead state. Trees have life long after the leaves and apples no longer come. They have the ability to bring tears.

There's something warm and generous about this debarked tree...
Such wonderful weathered beauty in this old tree. It is clearly a storehouse of precious memories. May it live on.
Beautiful. This kind of trees have special effect when playing with shadows...
Thanks for having URL/name comment option!
The trees are slowly dying
and monuments are to us even in death ...
The fruit trees of my childhood were all blown away :-(
Good to see the patterns of the crawlers in the wood,
beautiful pictures!
sweet tribute to a tree that gave so much for so many years. Have a wonderful day.
Trees can be such wonderful companions in childhood. It's nice that yours still stands, even if its apples are only a memory.
Gorgeous scenes from a beautiful fall day!
