...12.19.10...

...the subject of my shadow shot yesterday...

i believe my grandma and grandpa byers are with us.

[bih-leev] verb, -lieved, -liev·ing.
–verb (used without object)
1.
to have confidence in the truth, the existence, or the reliability of something, although without absolute proof that one is right in doing so: Only if one believes in something can one act purposefully.

to love means loving the unlovable.
to forgive means pardoning the unpardonable.
faith means believing the unbelievable.
hope means hoping when everything seems hopeless.
G. K. Chesterton

believe.
it doesn't cost anything.
(sadly,
sometimes the cost is great)
to believe.
it is yours to own.
your belief.
may not match someone else's.
don't push.
believe...
it gives hope.
it is a passion.
it stirs a fire in your soul.
it shines a light.
believe.
the Christmas spirit.
i believe.
welcome to coffee hour.
welcome to this Sunday morning.

...a hundred pockets...

When one has much to put into them, a day has a hundred pockets.
~Friedrich Nietzsche
i had pockets.
pockets of sunshine.
this week.
that's all.
just pockets.
so i, indeed, took advantage and filled my pockets.
journey with us.
to the lands of sun.
where we will find shadows.
may you find much to put.
into your pocket.
today.
just BE.

...12.12.10...

as you can see.
winter has arrived.
and it is still coming.
this started about seven o'clock last night.
winter storm warning right now.
the white stuff is coming down
pretty steadily.
doesn't seem like it will let up anytime soon!!
comfort food today.
scalloped potatoes and ham?
anyway...
i am inside with my coffee.

this book.
i have had.
i am guessing.
since second grade.
and i say that.
because it's 5th printing was 1972.
i was a second grader in 1972.
i love that i signed it.
my middle name is ann.
however.
i wrote "and".
like i've connected my first name.
with my last.
what great little glimpses.
into the past.
this is a book about wishing.
a series of wishes from a little girl.
and a doll.
the wishes brought them together in the end.
"if i had not wished." says holly.
Christmas is nearing.
and i find myself wishing.
welcome to coffee hour.
welcome to this Sunday morning.
just BE.

...a shadowy interior is heart-warming...

the stained glassed window
is a beautiful invention
of the gothic style.
on a sunny day,
the play of tinted light
in a shadowy interior is heart-warming
-the visual equivalent of heavenly music-
while the panes themselves
glow with saturated hues.
surrender to such visual harmony
whenever you have the opportunity.
light transforming glass
is an image of the miraculous spirit
transforming a  human life.
~1,001 ways to live in the moment

sun.
sun where are you.
here sun.
come out, come out where ever you are.
(it is going to be a long winter.)
if you are like me.
and you need some sun.
head to HEY HARRIET
where there is sun.
we know this
because there are shadows.
coffee. check.
okay.
i'm heading over.
join us.
may you be blessed with sun today.
just BE.

...12.5.10...

"we need to find God,
and He cannot be found in noise and restlessness.
God is the friend of silence.
see how nature -
trees, flowers, grass-
grows in silence;
see the stars, the moon and the sun,
how they move in silence...
we need silence to be able to touch souls"
~Mother Teresa

in silence.
i heard the wind.
rustle in the grass.
in silence.
i saw clouds move.
in silence.
i remember life.
of the summer past.
in silence.
the snow falls through the glistening sun.
in silence.
i see the barn.
in silence.
i hear what use to be.
in silence.
a tear gently falls.
for no one to hear.
welcome to coffee hour.
welcome to this Sunday morning.
just BE.

...there is no map...

“ there is no map.
you gotta write your own.
you gotta carve your own.
you gotta sweat, cry, grieve,
laugh, and love your own.
and when you're all done,
that's all that will have mattered. ”
~terri st. cloud

if you are a shadow chaser.
you would not be alone.
you would join us here.
when the sun shines.
this time of year.
it's a good thing.
cause it's appearance in the sky
is days of few and far between.
just BE.

...11.28.10...

railing against fate is unattractive:
it imposes a nuisance and a burden
upon our friends and family,
some of whom might have more reason to
complain than we do.
on the other hand,
to make light of a big problem,
or to seem to,
tends to be admired..
destiny is deaf to our protestations.
so why not make the best of things-
with silent patience and fortitude?
~1,001 ways to live in the moment

the past is connected to today.
today will lead us into tomorrow.
it is all connected.
fate.
destiny.
past.
present.
future.
it is the present.
it is the moment that we live in.
we must live in the moment.
because the future.
tomorrow.
we cannot predict.
the next moment.
we cannot predict.
LIVE IN THE MOMENT
the beautiful, happy child in the photo.
is my mom.
tomorrow is her birthday.
please stop by here
to wish her a happy birthday.
don't let the past take away your tomorrow.
welcome to coffee hour.
welcome to this Sunday morning.
just BE.
robin.
