...the extraordinary will take care of itself...

“Do not ask your children
to strive for extraordinary lives.
Such striving may seem admirable,
but it is the way of foolishness.
Help them instead to find the wonder
and the marvel of an ordinary life.
Show them the joy of tasting
tomatoes, apples and pears.
Show them how to cry
when pets and people die.
Show them the infinite pleasure
in the touch of a hand.
And make the ordinary come alive for them.
The extraordinary will take care of itself.”

finding a shadow.
is an ordinary thing.
that makes my heart smile.
enjoy your ordinary moments.
just BE.

The ordinary things of life are so often derided while much of the world lusts over their ideas of beauty - which is merely garnish. The beauty of our everyday lives is all around us and wonderful. The shadows and diffused light emanating from the glass jar are beautiful, soft and inviting. We need not purchase art as much as seek it instead from the everyday and surrounding natural beauty...

Like a magical, secret corner of light and shadow. There is an atmospheric warmth and comfort in this photo. Beautiful.

Yes! We should do so! You do find the best quotes-well, you and Sylvia. Both of you find quotes that are reflections of yourselves.

Hello Robin girl .. these are surely winter type shadows to me .. makes me want to cuddle up with fuzzy socks : )
This ancient advice is so pertinent and so terribly important but so ignored by parents and a generation of "kids" so caught up in the material and "me" world .. it is sad. I find such depth in the so called ordinary world every day and I am grateful that I taught myself that. It is wonderful to see this here though .. to might ring a bell for some one hopefully?
Getting COLD here too!
Joy : )

Robin, I love your ordinary vintage containers, better than anything new! nice textures of wood and brick.
the advice given is extremely fit for today's parents!

Yes! Shadows are such an ordinary thing, unless you look close enough to see their magic.
