...in silent cascades...

The sun disappears under a blanket of clouded hues
Stars begin to shine, like scattered fireflies,
Against the deep blanket of night
All is calm...

Nestled safe in your arms
A sense of quiet peace surrounds us
The moon rises and glows in silent cascades
Gently the breeze sweeps us away, to thoughts of serenity

Warm and safe, we linger in thought
Smell the sweet scent of dew
Back and forth we still sway
Through the creaking of boards, I drift off to dreams

Reminiscing...
That moment is transfixed in my mind
Untarnished by the changing years
The chair worn, but still here

Feeling your spirit surround me
Brings back memories...
You and I in the open air,
On the rocking chair that outlasted time

i love my
rocking chair.
the years it has seen.
the calm,
it has provided.
it is very patient.
waiting for me to come sit awhile.
and it always feels like
i never left.

just BE.

Such a lovely post for the day, Robin -- as always. Love the rocking chair/shadow and such beautiful words! I have to make a copy of those to read again later! Thanks for the beauty! Have a great weekend!

The old rocker holds more memories...babys in arms, a weeping daughter or son, a young wife on husband's lap...ahhhh. Great nostalgic ShadowShot.

What a gorgeous picture...beautiful! Rocking chairs have a way of calming...and making you patient. What do you think it is? Whatever it is, everyone should have one!
Enjoy your weekend,

Your rocking chair loves you back, I can tell...

SHADOW DITTY

Shadows of onyx, shadows of grey,
Shadows to chase my doldrums away;
Shadows each morning, shadows at night,
Shadows, O shadows, you’re my delight!

I love my rocking chair as well, when I had it for sale a while back I put a huge price tag on it intentionally, then one day it just disappeared from the shop...ahhh, the joy of a rocker, a cup o joe and a warm summer's day. We better enjoy them while we can, our drought is making quick work of summer here in Iowa, the leaves are dying and falling off. The birds are gone, it's surreal, the only sounds of summer are the chickens grubbin' through the dead lilies...sigh...well, there's always next year, right!

See ya for coffee and a squeak in the morrow lil' sis!!! Hey Tilda, better start squirrelin' away the chocolate, I gotta a bad feeling about this winter...rrrrrr!!!
