If a man walks in the woods for love of them half of each day,
he is in danger of being regarded as a loafer.
But if he spends his days as a speculator, shearing off those woods
and making the earth bald before her time,
he is deemed an industrious and enterprising citizen.
~Henry David Thoreau
i pick.
hands down.
being regarded as a loafer.
just BE.
robin.
I almost want to play hopscotch in the crisscross shadows under the tree.
ReplyDeleteYep-I'd just as soon be in the loafer club too than industrious! Thoreau has penned so many wise words.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you there, Robin!
ReplyDeleteLovely scenery.
Beautiful shadow shot for the day, Robin, and wonderful words as well! Thanks for sharing! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeletegreat shadow shot
ReplyDeleteI'll go with the loafer label, as I would love the solitude of the woods with nary the sound of the gas engine of a chainsaw nor the hacking axe at work. The silent solitude works quite well for me...
ReplyDeleteyup....I am a loafer....slinging a hammock somewhere between two trees!
ReplyDeleteI love the woods and this is wonderful mood light.
ReplyDeleteThe "woods" meant such an amazing hide away for me as a child .. I must have been a "loafer" all of my life?LOL .. beautiful shadowy image of gorgeous woods.
ReplyDeleteJoy : )
A loafer is most often the appreciator too.

ReplyDeletea great natural composition of shadows!
The older, the better. Woods or humans :)
ReplyDeleteHave a good week ahead!
The light through the tree foliage is magical, casting a lovely array of shadows.
ReplyDeleteHow sad that statement by Thoreau is so true! When we work for others, they tend to push us until we feel guilty if we do not become workaholics.
ReplyDeleteI could follow woodsy shadows all day long!
ReplyDeleteI totally love that feeling where the sun peeps between tall trees.
ReplyDeleteLovely picture and interesting quote :)
