these are multiple shadows because there were a lot of things
she walked away from without a word of explanation when
she was younger & she still thinks about them more than she needs to.

wonderfully restored barn.
with cement floors.
and stone walls.
where i use to go.
and feed the cows.
and help put the hay in the haymow.
now it not only holds cherished memories.
it holds antiques.
...and as old as i am.
the memories could be considered antiques as well.
just BE.

ReplyDeleteIsaac Singer built his machines to last! The old steel machine and other classic farm items were made in an era where 'built to last' meant something. Not like today where cheap (in price and construction) and throwaway rule - things had to last. An era that sadly has passed - however we all can view the exhibits and remember a time of pride in work was most important...I don't think you are an antique though :)
ReplyDeleteOh, this photo brings back memories! My grandmother used to have one of those old treadle sewing machines (don't remember if it was a Singer or not), and I loved to listen to it whir and click as she sewed.

Amazing how the old Singer machines are still remembered so fondly! I agree with MMT about the whir and click of the treadle! There was something so soothing, so comforting about the sound. A beautiful, enchanting photo of memories.

Great memories for all of us-those antiques. Which, I guess, it's true, so are the memories. I think that makes them all the more special. I can still hear the clacking noise that the Singer treadmill would make.
