i love how.
the flutterby's body.
created his shadow.
on his wing.
oh the joys of.
a summer yard.
it is back.
like an old friend.
familiar.
welcoming.
comfortable.
just BE.
robin.
The butterfly is so graceful and beautiful, its gentle landing on the flower amazing in its gentleness. Perhaps this flying beauty knew you were looking for natural shadows and kindly posed for the artist. So nice!
ReplyDeleteThe flowerpot looks as if it is about to tup over. Happily, shadows were captured prior to the fall. Neat!
Delicate shadows on the wings of the butterfly--how delightful!

Gorgeous butterfly and a terrific shadow shot for the day, Robin! And what a lovely start for my day as well! Hope you have a lovely weekend! Enjoy!

It is a familiar and welcomed sight-these colorful summertime visitors! Quietly sipping nectar from the flowers that grace the property.
ReplyDeleteCelebrating the simple joys of life that mean so much!
I love the photo of the butterfly!!
ReplyDeleteI love the ladybug in your header today! I might not like many of the summer insects (horseflies, deerflies, mosquitoes), but there are so many wonderful creatures like these in your photos! (and dragonflies!)
ReplyDeleteWe love coming over for the calming shadows you bring us Robin! Summer is back...and just like an old friend, bringing back all the joys that go with it! Thought the same thing sitting on the porch last night....welcome back :) yea!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day!!
What lovely photos...and a beautiful quote! I haven't heard that one before and will definitely add it to my collection. And I agree...the joys of a summer yard are so welcoming and comfortable.
ReplyDeleteDale Turner's words are so haunting and beautiful - definitely recorded on the SSS2 list! Love the gentle wings of your butterfly touched with shadow! And the second photo is like a mystery object! At first I thought it was a slightly overturned lampshade, but what would do that be doing on a rugged fence? post? Like a mystery object tantalising in light and shadow!
ReplyDeleteCould not agree with you more on your sentiment of the joys of our summer yard.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Leah
Beautiful are your words....I could tell I was going to really like your post....just from the title!!!
ReplyDeleteMy SHADOW SHOT link.
Hope you're having a glorious, wonderful weekend so far.
Beautiful images - and quotes :)
ReplyDeleteHI Rob,

One thing I love you posts coz of the prose and the matching shots. AWESOME... very delightful.
Enjoy,

Beautiful butterfly.
ReplyDeleteShadow Shots post. Have a great weekend.
Butterflies are so beautiful...
ReplyDeleteIn Finland everything is so green but it's not summer warm yet but pleasant to cycle! (and stop every 5 mins to shoot a picture)
Have a good week ahead!
I also love this quote about the length and shadow of our souls.
ReplyDeleteThe flutterby shot is wonderful. I just captured a bumble bee on some spiky purple perennials in the yard.
I think I shall post the photo, because I can. ;-)
Beautiful shot of the butterfly! Great quote as well!
