I have come to believe that there are infinite passageways out of the shadows,
infinite vehicles to transport us into the light.
- Martha Beck
In photography there are no shadows that cannot be illuminated.
- August Sander
the moments continue.
the simple pleasure
of capturing shadows.
sun.
objects.
camera.
desire.
point.
shoot.
smile.
join the shadow chaser.
enjoy the simple pleasures today.
because someday soon...
you will look back
and realize how precious those moments were.
just BE.

You know I love shadows with weathered wood!
ReplyDeleteSimply put...oh this summer, such a thing of beauty everywhere, yet so fleeting...I saw a woolly caterpillar yesterday, such a delicate creature sends a shudder of fear through my very being, to me they mean the coming of winter...say it isn't so!!!
ReplyDeleteFor us Northerners every minute of this season is precious, we take it ALL in and take nothing for granted, for it is all taken away ever so quickly...it's like we hold our breath for 3 months, here it is AND there it goes.
I hear the sound of the aerial sprayer in the distance and wonder what will become of us...in the meantime, just breathe...and have another cup o Joe!!!
Beautiful shadows and such great and true quotes, Robin! How much more we see each day once we begin chasing shadows! Have a lovely weekend!

Oh, but it is such a simple and joyful pleasure-this activity of capturing shadows! I also love those little toes on your banner!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots and quotes. I don't know how you find such wonderful shadow quotes, but they are all fantastic.
The worn shovel looks happy (if such a thing is possible!) to be leaning against that old building instead of digging feverishly in the earth.
ReplyDeleteTALKING SHADOWS?
Imagine a shadow could talk
In whisper or rumble or squawk;
Just what would it say
To make you go, “Hey!
You’re just a chip off the old block!”?

Shadows abound here and here
I like the shadows that fall over these objects made of wood. On top, the weathered wood turns gray due to exposure - the shade adds some late protection to the splintering lumber...
ReplyDeleteThe spade, handle and all, is so well crafted in the old hardwood. That modern implements could look as majestic (and not fall apart like the old tools) 100 years later. Quality reigned in the old days...
ooh, this is fantastic Robin. great quotes AND shadows. the tones of the wood are beautiful. and I love the smoothness of that handle. I hope you have a joyful weekend. stay cool.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! You continue to amaze me with your talents!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! I love the weathered wood, and super sharp shadows. The second shot would make a great book illustration.
ReplyDeleteThe second picture could've been shot here in Finland! :)
