coming to terms with reality
involves stripping ourselves of comforting delusions.
many people who try to
confront life's difficult truths
get scared and fail in the attempt.
you won't gain self-knowledge
without drawing upon your reserves of
strength and courage.
don't run away:
the rewards of standing
your ground
will be riches beyond measure-
true happiness,
true peace,
true love.
~1,001 ways to live in the moment
it has been a week of:
warmer temps...48 degrees.
melting snow.
high winds.
sunshine.
back to today.
partly sunny.
20 degrees.
windy.
slight snow.
good day to head to HEY HARRIET
for shadow shot Sunday.
...all in all.
spring.
is coming.
just BE.
robin.
beautiful photo and poem, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThe weather changes for the worse today. Yet, any day around here in this snowy season is to be enjoyed. I am even starting to the grass in the yard in places - Spring will be here soon!
ReplyDeleteWe had some snow this morning, but it didn't last. A lovely shadow shot!
ReplyDeleteWonderful words that I did need to hear this morning, thank you, Robin! And, yes, we have some sun and blue skies today! Later this morning I'll get to meet a fellow blogger from California and we're going picture taking for the afternoon! I'm so excited! Did the same thing last week and it is wonderful to meet one's blogging friends! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
I think we could look at this picture all day. Even with that SNOW it it :) ha ha!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful week ahead Robin!
Always know when I visit your Shadow shot Sunday post that i will get a gentle blanket of encouragement wrapped around me in pictures and words! I love it so much!
ReplyDeleteToday, your words encourage me to deal with some rather negative people at work and simply trundle on, not letting their darkness draw me in! And your shadow smiles! Thank you so much!
Have a wonderful week!
Gorgeous shadow shot!
ReplyDeleteMy shadow shot
great photo for today
ReplyDeleteSara, your blue shadows were a delight but the wisdom to go with them really touched my heart as I was struggling with a difficult situation and by the acceptance of it have actually managed to make it much easier on myself.
ReplyDeleteThey do say when the student is ready, the teacher appears. I usually have to arrive at the truth on my own and only then do I get the verification by having it spelled out for me as you have done.
Well, we sure know ol' man winter is not leaving us too soon, yet we dream, knowing still what lies ahead...MORE WINTER...but it doesn't mean we have to like it, it is what it is...and just think, glorious spring is just around the bend. All ol winter is, is a revitalizing season, we just couldn't deal with all them weeds and summer storms and mowing without some sort of a break...right! OK, I'm over it, come on summer chores and no woollies, right Tilda!!!
ReplyDeleteSee ya in the AM for the hot brew...

So glad that you had a week with sunshine! It was fun seeing Mr.Sun leaving his sign on your ShadowShot today!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really lovely SS! I do hope that it was taken a couple of weeks ago....you shouldn't have that much snow left. We're almost all green grass. Easy to see spring right around the corner :)
ReplyDeleteThe atomic starburst in my photo is not in its original location and is sitting outside a nearly dead shopping mall. It was placed there by the owner who is a collector of big vintage/antique things and keeps his collection on display at the mall.
it took me a very long time (it seems) to come to terms with my retreats in life. I think back to all the times when I could have stood my ground or even taken wing to the sky but I retreated instead. but having regrets about it doesn't change anything. I guess I prefer to simply be thankful I eventually did do that "stripping of comforting delusions". and for me it has to be a daily practice!
ReplyDeletevery uplifting post, thanks so much. i love the light in your image, and the shadows too.
have a beautiful weekend!
The words work perfectly with your photo! And what wonderful news that spring is just around the corner! I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend Robin :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photo - love the shadows!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a wonderful weekend!
How true and how apropo for me this week. We had to put our cat down who has been with here for 16 years. A hard decision to make and now having to confront the grief that follows in the wake of death.
ReplyDelete"stripping ourselves of comforting delusions" wow... powerful words.
ReplyDeleteAnd such a beautiful photograph.
Sending warm thoughts your way...20 degrees, brrr!
xoEsther
You must be looking forward to the warmer weather. Lovely shadow shot. Charmaine
ReplyDeleteMissing your proses...
ReplyDeleteHope the weather will be friendly to us soon, huh?
As always, you have really great shots.
Happy SSS...
