august break-day seven
in the narrow
crowded streets of town
in north india,
an elephant was
blocking the path to the market.
no one knew
how to get past the beast.
then the townspeople
saw a holy man.
"if anyone knows what to do, he will,"
they said to each other.
when they looked again,
the guru had vanished.
a few minutes later,
when they looked toward the elephant,
they saw him beyond the elephant,
approaching the market stalls.
He had simply made a detour
around the block.
1,001 ways to live in the moment
sometimes it is just that simple.
we worry, we fret
we form a committee on
how we are going to take care
of the problem.
when sometimes,
all you have to do...
is walk around the block.
for today in the land of
sun and shadows...
join us.
just BE.
robin.
Been walkin' around the block all my life, it's the shortest path to the awakening...
ReplyDeleteI know we will have an early winter this year, all the signs are there...it will be long and cold, the price we pay for such a long spring and sweltering summer.
Been perfect sleeping weather here too the last couple of nights, I dread having to close the hatches for winter, but it is what it is...but I'll continue to fly as high as the elephants eye...it's my path!
Thanks for the coffee...hey to that bare-footed Tilda...love you guys!

Lovely. My fretting days are long gone...found it to be wasted energy. Happy ShadowShot Sunday to you!
ReplyDelete...exactly cassie...very much a waste of energy...thanks for stopping by!!
ReplyDeleteI agree it's good to walk around the block every now and then - better than stay still and do nothing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!
Elephants are lovely in the abstract or at a distance. I would take the detour...
ReplyDeleteThe flower opens up, although full bloom or fruit often takes longer than we hope. Yet, the initial bloom gives us hope that the beauty of life continues, neither starting nor stopping. Beautiful!
The way of water, flowing around a stone. Wise words, and a lovely photograph.
ReplyDeleteAnd I've heard a saying that echoes this-that the secret to enjoying life is learning to enjoy the detours along the way!
ReplyDeleteWhat an exquisite shot to go with the parable.
A wonderful tale to go with an exquisite photo!!
