Shadow is the obstruction of light.
Shadows appear to me to be of supreme importance
in perspective, because, without them
opaque and solid bodies will be ill defined;
that which is contained within their outlines
and their boundaries themselves will be ill-understood
unless they are shown against a background
of a different tone from themselves.
Leonardo DaVinci
the shadows.
cast in shades of grey.
enjoy the moments.

Love the vintage look of this!
The shadows almost add a a hint of color- while it is still gray, it enhances the monochrome by adding a hint of depth to an almost industrial scene. Where mundane is beautiful indeed!
excellent photo to go with Leonardo!
Hello there Robin girl !
I love your new header picture along with this wonderful SS one.
Rustic and patient these scenes seem to be to me ... waiting to be noticed some how. The DaVinci quote is quite amazing ... I hadn't seen it before. Well done you for introducing it to our shadow shot worlds!
Joy : )
This quiet scene seems to represent some pieces, some tools of life. An interesting arrangement.
B&W go go so well with DaVinci...
There is something serene about this scene, something that invites the viewer to pause for a few moments--or even minutes--to breathe a silent prayer of thanks for light and shadow.
I'm drawn to shadows because they remind me of the soul behind every living thing.
Good to visit your space again Robin after a long absence. I have made it a habit to stay off the PC on the weekends, but want to bring more photography and poetry to my own space, and SSS2 link ups help me to do this. Anyway, love the black and white scene and the DaVinci quote. You always give me something to think about and a scene to enjoy.
Cheers,
Leah
Stellar image AND a stellar quote to go with it!
